Welcome to Barron , Wisconsin - the friendly place that is surrounded by rolling countryside, crystal-clear lakes, stately forests, abundant wildlife, and endless array of flowers. Some people say Wisconsin has a little bit of every state in it, and we believe that this is true. We are the "Up North" hunting that you read about - as there is an abundance of public woodland filled with pheasants, ducks, rabbits, deer and even bear. Much of the private land around Barron is accessible by simply asking permission. Downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ATVing, sledding, and ice skating fill the winters and give way to water skiing, swimming, boating, running, hiking, biking and golfing in the summer months.
The fine arts are generously supported in Barron and there are limitless opportunities for involvement. We have excellent and affordable housing. Our educational system has produced CEO's, an Air Force general, radio and television personalities, and a lot of productive citizens. Our medical facilities are directly connected with Luther Hospital in Eau Claire and the world-renown Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. We have immediate access to the University of Minnesota medical facilities as well as other metropolitan area hospitals. We have a high employment rate with positions ranging from entry level to corporate executives. Many people choose to own independent businesses, and there is space and support available. Agriculture is our leading industry.
